CORPORATE SPONSORS / FUNDRAISERS
Create and foster relationships with prospective sponsors to cultivate relationships to bring monies into the District. Analyze tools and create strategies to reach corporate and individual sponsors.
COLLEGE BROTHERS AFFAIRS / COLLEGE 2 CORPORATE
This committee works with the Alabama Assistant District Director and Assistant Area Directors to create programs to help cultivate the college brothers. The committee also attempts to create and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with corporate partners to provide career opportunities for the Alphabama brotherhood.
VOTELESS PEOPLE IS A HOPELESS PEOPLE
VPHP will endorse the Alabama Unite statewide strategy. This is an effort to increase voter turnout from the ground up in every county in the State, prioritizing the top 12 highest voting counties and the 18 Black Belt counties. We will focus on voter education emphasizing how to vote, absentee voting, and ex-offenders with their voting rights restored.
POLICY COUNCIL
The ALABAMA POLICY COUNCIL serves as a source of independent policy analysis and advice for the Alabama District of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. The ALABAMA POLICY COUNCIL’s mission is to take a longer term, strategic view of state issues and frame recommendations for the District Director to advance the fraternity’s interests and values.
PROJECT ALPHA / MARCH FOR BABIES
To help chapters with ideas and strategies to provide young men with current and accurate information about teen pregnancy prevention. Also, to continue to help the District be a leader in raising monies and awareness for March for Babies.
GO TO HIGH SCHOOL / GO TO COLLEGE / MENTORING
Concentrate on the importance of completing secondary and collegiate education as a road to advancement. To work with chapter mentoring programs to establish best practices and standards to create consistencies across all programs.
ALPHA DAY AT CAPITOL
To provide a forum for the brothers to participate with Alpha Legislators on issues that are prevalent in the District of Alabama; to promote political advocacy to our chapters both college and alumni in the areas of voter education, voter registration, voter restoration, and public service; and, to showcase to the legislators and general public the Brotherhood, Leadership, and Professionalism, from the members of the first black fraternity for college educated men in the world.
BIG BROTHERS / BIG SISTERS
Increase the number of African-American children exposed to positive African-American adult role models; Increase minority representation on local Big Brothers/Big Sisters’ Board of Directors; Increase positive perceptions of both organizations in the African-American community; Expose African-American boys of Big Brothers/Big Sisters programs to positive Alpha role models and the programs of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
CONSTITUTION
Responsible for study and revision of this Constitution and to prepare recommendations for amending the General Constitution.
RECLAMATION / RETENTION
The purpose of this committee is to provide information and resources to the District to engage inactive Brothers. Establish goals and benchmarks to reclaim and retain Brothers as they are initiated and before they leave the fold.
MILLENNIAL / GENERATIONAL TASKFORCE
Create Districtwide initiatives to engage recent college brother graduates and those brothers under the age of 30.
BROTHERHOOD INITIATIVES
Provide ways and opportunities to promote brotherhood throughout the District. To also look at ways to create brotherhood opportunities at Districtwide meetings and gatherings.
BROTHER'S KEEPER
Advocate and improve the quality of life for Alphabama’s senior brothers, their spouses, and widows; brothers who are retired and have disabilities or ailments; and vulnerable community members.
HALL OF FAME
The Honors and Awards Committee shall be responsible for formulating guidelines by which the District may honor and/or recognize deserving Alpha men and other deserving persons on a systematic basis each year. In addition this committee shall nominate persons to be considered for honors and/or recognition at each annual convention.
DISTRICT CAR TAG
The committee will develop a robust media campaign across all platforms that increases awareness of and participation in the District Car Tag Program that generates 250 new investors during the 2021 fraternal year. We need savvy and engaging media design that generates interest and movement into the District Tag Program. We need individuals who can work cooperatively to develop, design and implement such a program.
ALABAMA DISTRICT LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
The goal is to provide meaningful workshops that will further develop the brothers in our district. Ultimately our desire is to ensure that each chapter is properly conducting and providing community service through the national programs and special projects of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. If we can do this, it will help our chapters do a better of serving the great state of Alabama.
REGIONAL COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS
Designed to adhere to the onward and upward outreach, to meet the needs of the brotherhood and also meet the needs of the communities in which we serve. Providing a strong and supportive relationship that is beneficial for positive community growth and education.
MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS
Plan, promote, and implement wellness initiatives for brothers to improve their mental and physical health.
CHAPTER ADVISOR COORDINATOR
Composed of Chapter Advisors throughout to District to come with best practices and training for college chapter advisors.
AUDIT
Conducts monthly reviews and yearly audits of the District financial statements.
TIME AND PLACE
Committee sets the rotation of the District conference schedule and helps review RFPs received from host cities.
GRIEVANCES AND DISCIPLINE
- Responsible for developing procedures for managing grievance and discipline issues within the District.
- Responsible for determining the results of a grievance hearing and recommending actions to be taken by the organization as a result of a hearing.
RULES AND CREDENTIALS
Presentation of convention/conference rules at each District Conference.
AWARDS COMMITTEE
Responsible for judging awards competitions during Fraternal year. Provide training and development for competitive events on a District level.
